Clopay Classic Wood Garage Doors
Handcrafted real wood in redwood, hemlock, or cedar. The genuine article, built in the USA.
Why homes pick the Classic Wood
Some houses just call for real wood, and the Classic Wood collection delivers it without the custom-shop price tag. Every door is handcrafted in the USA, with models to fit different needs: Model 44 offers raised panels with heavy-duty stile-and-rail construction, Models 20 and 10 bring recessed panels, and Model 33 is a flush-panel door with three-layer construction and polystyrene insulation rated at R-5.9.
Wood choices include sustainably sourced redwood, hemlock, and cedar for staining, plus paint-grade Extira composite panels. There are six designs, optional hand-carved decorative windows, and ten finish options spanning nine stains and paint, with a large custom color program beyond. Real wood asks for some upkeep over its life, and we will be upfront about that at the quote. Our crew installs Classic Wood doors with the care they deserve, and the on-site visit costs nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Classic Wood model should I look at?
Model 44 has handcrafted raised panels in stain-grade or paint-grade woods. Models 20 and 10 offer recessed panels. Model 33 is the flush-panel option and the insulated one, with three-layer construction and an R-value of 5.9. We will walk all of them at your quote.
What woods can I choose?
Sustainably sourced redwood, cedar, and hemlock in stain grade, plus paint-grade options including Extira wood composite panels. Nine stains and paint finishes cover the color side, with a custom program beyond that.
How much maintenance does a real wood door need?
More than steel or composite, honestly. Finishes need renewing over the door's life depending on sun and weather exposure. Clopay backs construction and paint for one year and stain for two. If that upkeep is a dealbreaker, we will point you to faux wood alternatives we also install.
Can I see a Classic Wood door on my house first?
Yes. Our Design Your Door page lets you upload a photo of your home and preview wood designs and finishes on your actual garage before you decide.
What is the lead time on a handcrafted wood door?
Handcrafted doors take longer than stock steel, and timing varies by model and finish. Ask for current lead times at your free quote and we will build the schedule around reality, not optimism.
